AI Engineer – London

Position

Title: AI Engineer

Location: London - Hybrid (2 days in the office)

Timeline: Immediate Start

The Role

You would work closely with our founder and the rest of the engineering team on the optimisation and refinement of Zola’s compound AI systems.

Day to day, you might:

Design, implement, and fine-tune state-of-the-art machine learning models to power our AI search engine.
Run experiments to validate improvements in model performance and user experience.
Improve the performance of our retrieval systems and databases.
Develop our data pipelines to ensure our systems are scalable and efficient.
Prototype and deploy innovative AI solutions to solve unique challenges in financial and economic analysis.
Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize performance across our AI systems to ensure reliability and responsiveness.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and bring fresh ideas to our growing team.

What We’re Looking For

Experience in a high-growth startup or fast-paced tech environment is desirable. We're a small team of skilled and independent contributors and we need someone who can hit the ground running.

You should have:

A passion for building AI systems.
Fluency in Python and knowledge of system design.
Hands-on experience with language model programming frameworks such as DSPy, LangChain, Ollama, etc.
Expertise in running experiments, optimising models, and machine learning best practices.
Experience with relational databases and embedding models. An understanding of vector and graph databases is a bonus.
Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
An entrepreneurial mindset, be eager to learn, and have the desire to work in a challenging and exciting startup environment.
An interest in finance and economics is a bonus!
